Have Dettifoss on your itinerary
One of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls
Ready for more waterfalls on your itinerary? Today you will see one of the most powerful waterfalls in all of Europe. The noise it produces is impressive. Arriving at the Dettifoss waterfall, you will have to walk a little, about 1 KM, but it is totally worth every minute. Be sure to include this in your Iceland travel itinerary!
MÝVATN
Mývatn is one of the largest and most beautiful geothermal areas in Iceland
Afterwards, travel to Mývatn, one of the most beautiful lakes on the entire island. On the way, you can also observe an impressive geothermal area up close, with many points of interest. Lake Viti, Krafta and of course Hverir and Námaskarð.
And, by the way, let us ask: did you go to the Blue Lagoon? HERE is an excellent alternative that you can visit: the Mývatn Nature Baths. The water is also blue and the place is much less known than the Blue Lagoon. You’ll find a lot less tourists and live a much more relaxing experience, in Icelandic style.
Be sure to visit the famous Grjótagjá cave, also a well-known setting for the TV series Game of Thrones.
Don’t be afraid to forget to include the Góðafoss waterfall in your itinerary. She gets right in her way. Head to Akureyri, Iceland’s second-largest city, or detour to Húsavík for a Whale Watching tour (HERE). You can also do it in Reykavík. Look here.
